NP WEEK-Eyeglass recycling

Posted over 6 years ago by Leslie Moore

In honor of National Nurse Practitioner Week, November 12-18, 2017, I invite Georgia NPs to participate in “Eyeglass Recycling.”

Please reach out to your family, friends and coworkers to collect eyeglasses of all types and in any condition of wear, including prescription eyeglasses, readers, and sunglasses. Cell phones and hearing aids are also acceptable, in any condition.

Please collect them during NP week and we can work with local NP groups to have a representative bring them to the state capital on November 28, 2017 when we have our photo op with Lt. Governor Casey Cagle with our Proclamation in recognition of NPs and our contributions to healthcare.

The eyeglasses will be recycled internationally with medical mission groups. Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation and their recycling center makes this possible. Knowing how others benefit, let us donate what we are not using. I witnessed this first hand on a mission trip last summer and met a young boy who was legally blind but with glasses was able to regain some of his vision.

Thank you in advance for participating!
